Dr Efthymia Karantzali
Expert for the Greek Court Authorities in matters of Biological Material Profiling and DNA Analysis
Efthymia Karantzali graduated from the Department of Biology of the University of Crete in 2002. In 2004 she completed her post-graduate studies in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine and in 2009 her doctoral project in mechanisms of differentiation in embryonic stem cells at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (Foundation for Research & Technology, Heraklion, Crete), with many publication in prestigious scientific journals. She was then trained in the forensic laboratories of IGNA in France and from 2010 until today she has held the position of Laboratory Manager at the DNAlogy laboratory, as well as the position of Quality Manager (ISO 17025). Since 2010 she has been registered as an Expert with the Greek Court Authorities in matters of detection, analysis and profiling of DNA, having provided many court expert reports for the Greek courts. She is also a member of the “International Society for Forensic Genetics”. In 2016 she successfully completed her studies in the field of interpretation of DNA analyses, at the Department of Law of the School of Criminal Justice and Public Administration of the University of Lausanne.
