Twin DNA Test
Monozygotic or Dizygotic Twins?
This test determines whether 2 twins are from the fertilisation of a single egg (monozygotic twins) or from the fertilisation of two different eggs (dizygotic twins).
The twin DNA test determines with absolute accuracy whether two twins are genetically identical or not since
monozygotic twins have exactly the same genetic make-up, whereas dizygotic twins not.
The twin test can be performed for a variety of reasons:
- For personal reasons when the parents wish to find out whether their children are genetically identical or not.
- For medical reasons, e.g. in case of transplantation, as monozygotic twins are fully compatible donors.

Analysis of 24 - 44 STRs
DNAlogy analyses include the study of 24-44 genetic markers (STRs) to ascertain the degree of kinship.
Results
The results of laboratory analyses are entered in special software which taking into consideration all required parameters (e.g. race, likelihood of mutation, internationally-recognised population databases, etc) process the data to compute the final results.
Expert Report
Analysis and interpretation of results is carried out by 2 special experts in our laboratory, who also sign off the final expert report that contains the laboratory results and the detailed conclusions.
Subjects of the Twin DNA Test
Monozygotic twins
Dizygotic twins
This test requires participation of the twins. The test is carried out by comparing the genetic profile of the two individuals.
