Double Grandparent Analysis
Participants:
The participants in a DNA Grandparent test are the child and the alleged grandparents. If both grandparents are available, participation of one parent (not the child of the grandparent) is recommended but optional.
Alternative:
If the child is male then a Y chromosome analysis can also be performed for the child and the grandfather in order to identify the common paternal lineage.

Double Grand Parent Analysis
Single Grandparent Analysis
Participants:
The participants in a DNA Grandparent test are the child and the alleged grandparent. If only one grandparent is available for testing, it is strongly suggested that the parent that is not the child of the grandparent is also tested in order to raise the percentage of probability or prove the exclusion.
Alternative:
If the persons to be tested are the father of the father and the grandson, then a Y chromosome analysis can also be performed, in order to identify the common paternal lineage.
If the persons to be tested are the mother of the mother and the granddaughter, then a mtDNA analysis can be performed, in order to identify the common maternal lineage. The mtDNA analysis is recommended only in case the nuclear DNA is not enough or of a bad quality.
